Race Cards (in Two Acts)

This video étude was commissioned by Prime Mover Theatre Company as part of Race Cards (in Two Acts), a project in dialogue with Selina Thompson’s work, Race Cards, that was installed in the Union Station media box in Toronto, Ontario in July 2022.

For this video, I “tried on” a moment I witnessed during a Q&A with an established white male composer. His answer to a common get-to-know-you question, “what are your desert island albums” surprised me, and I wanted to see what it would be like to give his answer and maybe get a glimpse of whether it felt like self-confidence or self-centredness.
